"The best looking boat Viking has launched to date." This quote was published in late 2007 right before the Viking 54 Convertible first made its debut. With the launch of the newest version of the 54C, Viking reaffirms its dominance on the mid-size convertible category. Viking is well-known for taking the countless hours spent fishing on their own vessels in highly competitive tournaments, and then using the knowledge they gain to perfect their craft.
"The new 54 Convertible is hard to beat in its class," said Rich Lucas, Viking Brand Manager for SI Yachts. Viking continues to push the envelope when it comes to sportfish design and the 54C has the very best equipment and options available. It won "Best In Show" when it first debuted at the 2020 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. Since then, there have been numerous orders."
“No one has done a better job in this segment of the market,” says Viking President and CEO Pat Healey. “Over the last 20 years, we've designed more boats from 50 to 60 feet than any other manufacturer in the industry. This is absolutely our sweet spot.”
The exterior lines are unmistakably Viking with aggressive bow rake and curves, the sleek deckhouse, tinted windows, and tournament-style tower. For those with a keen eye for Vikings, you'll notice the differences immediately between this generation's 54C and the previous model. The biggest difference is easily the windshield design which nearly wraps around the entire deckhouse from one side of the mezzanine to the other. Whether going with the sea foam green, stars-and-stripes blue, or for a clean pearl white look, the new Viking 54 Convertible is going to turn some heads at the 2020-2021 boat shows.
All of Viking's traditional elements that have made then so successful are here on the 54C. The ever-popular Viking mezzanine offers the best seat in the house with comfortable ultra-leather couches, air conditioning, and easy access to a cooler. There's simply never been a better place to watch people fish!
The "business area", as Viking calls it, is the fighting cockpit which spans 154 square feet of unobstructed room to fish. It even features molded non-skid on the cockpit sole for grippy footing (even when wet) and large scuppers to drain water quickly.
Speaking of fishing, the cockpit on the 54 Convertible offers a lot of space to maneuver around the crew and the angler fighting a fish. It is loaded down with fishing features such as:
Viking is a legend in building yachts that raise fish and that has been proven time and again in countless tournament wins. An added benefit of Viking's dedication to always using the best materials, construction methods, wood, fabrics, and other appointments is that it also turns a Viking into an exceptional cruising boat!
When the fish aren't biting, Viking owners love to take their family and friends boating. The new 54 Convertible interior is designed for comfort, relaxation, and rejuvenation from the day's activities.
Like its larger sibling, the 58 Convertible, the 54C will feature the salon living area aft near the cockpit doors. The L-shaped couch and teak coffee table are directly across from the entertainment center. Large, picture windows along each side allow natural light to permeate the salon and give guests incredible views. The fully-equipped galley and dining area are part of the open main deck layout so that everyone is part of the conversation. As with all Vikings, only the top vendors are used for galley equipment and storage is abundant so you'll never have a problem keeping a hungry crew fed.
Moving down the companionway, the Viking 54 Convertible offers a popular 3-stateroom, 2-head layout. If you're building a new 54C, there is the option to convert the forward VIP stateroom from a queen-sized berth to one with a double berth and a single bunk above it. If fitting a maximum number of people on board is a requirement, this may be the best option.
The master stateroom is placed midship and features a queen-sized walk-around berth, as well as storage underneath the mattress. A wardrobe, extra drawers, entertainment center, and a generously-sized en suite head complete the master suite. The VIP and the third guest stateroom share the second head located in the companionway, adjacent to the washer/dryer. The third guest cabin includes two single bunks in and over/under arrangement. Of course all staterooms have the gorgeous high-gloss teak or walnut that has made Viking's interior so popular.
For propulsion, the Viking 54C has multiple options from MAN engines. The base engine is a MAN V12 1400mhp engine, but this can be upgraded to the V12 1550CRM 1,550 mhp option. Initial estimates have the 54 Convertible reaching top speeds of 40 knots and with a comfortable cruise in the mid-30 knot range.
Viking has also just released multiple variations of the 54C including the 54 Sport Tower, 54 Open, and 54 Sport Coupe.
