Viking’s extensive experience in building enclosed bridge convertibles is once again apparent in our latest model, the Viking 66 Enclosed Bridge Convertible. Introduced at our invitational VIP Preview in February and followed by its world premiere at the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show, the 66 EB combines superlative performance and sea-keeping prowess with impeccable design and luxurious appointments throughout.

Sharing many of the enticing attributes of the 66 Convertible including four spacious staterooms each with a private head and shower, a 174 square foot-cockpit with our signature observation mezzanine, custom granite touches and gorgeous, hand-finished teak joinery throughout, the 66 EB also provides the convenience and security of an interior staircase in the salon to the climate controlled bridge and helm station.

With its baby ostrich headliner, upholstered valances, a raised L-shaped lounge with a teak cocktail table, refrigeration, an entertainment system, and teak cabinetry, the enclosed bridge truly replicates the beauty and features of a functional second salon.

A Stidd helm seat is standard at the forward helm and a second docking station is located just outside the locking weatherproof door to the aft deck. A powder-coated aluminum ladder from the mezzanine deck provides additional access from the cockpit.

Veteran rock star Sammy Hagar had a hit some years back “I Can’t Drive 55″ but in a few months you can. That is, aboard the latest Viking, the new 55 Convertible, launching in late spring.

Viking first launched a 55 Convertible in the fall of 1997. It was instantly popular with tournament fishermen and serious cruisers and 115 were built during its five-year tenure.

Fast forward to 2012 and this new 55 represents a sea change in style, construction and elegance.

Pulled from the mold prior to the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show, hull number one features our popular custom Buck blue hull, with our signature snow white topsides. Stay tuned for regular reports because this model is going to sing.

An optional bulkhead provides more privacy for the forward stateroom if you need it.

GALLEY

The galley offers all the headroom you’ll need, and features a fridge, two-burner stove, wine/bottle storage and a microwave/convection oven. Six vertical portholes fill the galley with an abundance of warm, natural light. Viking Yachts Goes Solar!

Slated for completion by late 2011, Viking Yachts’ solar project is under way. Our initial stage is to cover the roofs of Buildings 5 and 5A (shown here as a rendering) with a solar array expected to generate 250,000 KWH per year, or enough to power both buildings for one year, which is equivalent to six percent of our annual electricity usage. This will also reduce our carbon footprint at the power generation plant by some 3,000 tons of CO2. Roof coverage is 17,000 square feet and the 798 panels weigh a total of approximately 50,000 pounds. We expect this capital investment to pay for itself in five years.

At the galley’s entrance raised ceilings offer just under 7′ of headroom. The inventive portside galley is furnished with a stainless steel refrigerator and freezer, microwave/convection oven, electric stove, double sink and plenty of storage for supplies.
